Description
PLEASE NOTE: We sell cuttings and bare root plants only. If you see a picture of a large plant in the listing it is for illustration purposes only and not what you will receive. Cuttings need to be placed in a container with water or moist soil till they root, bare root plants can be placed directly in the ground or containers and usually require daily watering till they are established. Some cuttings like succulents and cacti can be placed directly in the ground without rooting. Most cuttings do not have 100 percent success rate so we recommend you purchase a few to ensure success. Even some bare root plants will not give you 100 percent success rate after planting in the ground. Some plants are considered invasive in certain areas or provinces and the onus is on you to make sure you research the plant that you are purchasing to make sure it will work for you, your area and your landscape. Rhaphidophora tetrasperma or the Mini Monstera, is a reasonably modern houseplant that does exceptionally well indoors if given proper care. It has only really become popular and grown as an indoor plant within the last five years.
It might be “new,” but they’re fantastic value, grow quickly, are easy care and look both exciting and attractive simultaneously. Although common, they’re still unusual enough to attract attention and look impressive in most settings.
If you allow your “Rhaphi” to climb, it will shoot straight upward and creates a slender footprint without you needing to prune it into the shape. This is great when space is tight.
The vines are quite sturdy and thick, so they can hold themselves in position a little without support. But it does best if you let the aerial roots grip onto something, like a totem filled with sphagnum moss or coconut coir.
It thrives in bright, indirect light, well-draining soil, and moderate to high humidity, preferring to dry slightly between thorough watering’s to prevent root rot, and benefits from support like a moss pole or being staked as it matures
Chances of success of cuttings or bare root:
HIGH. This plant is very easy plant to propagate and will root very quickly in water or in soil, water is the preferred method for rooting cuttings as it is typically quicker and has higher success rate. Purchasing bare root will speed up the process but is not necessary for success. If you want to save money and are patient then purchase cuttings rather than bare root.
Place your bare root cutting into soil that is well draining , keeping it moist but not soggy, and provide bright, indirect light. After planting your bare root plant, water daily for 3 days and then after 3 days water when you feel the top layer of soil is dry.
