Description
PLEASE NOTE: We sell cuttings and bare root plants only. If you see a picture of a large plant in the listing it is for illustration purposes only and not what you will receive. Cuttings need to be placed in a container with water or moist soil till they root, bare root plants can be placed directly in the ground or containers and usually require daily watering till they are established. Some cuttings like succulents and cacti can be placed directly in the ground without rooting. Most cuttings do not have 100 percent success rate so we recommend you purchase a few to ensure success. Even some bare root plants will not give you 100 percent success rate after planting in the ground. Some plants are considered invasive in certain areas or provinces and the onus is on you to make sure you research the plant that you are purchasing to make sure it will work for you, your area and your landscape. The Splash Dance Magenta Mambo features large, vibrant magenta purple or purplish-red flowers speckled with white (or sometimes described as cream yellow). All cuttings are taken from the mother plant seen in the image so they will be clones of this plant and have the same colour flowers.
Petunias need weekly fertilization if you want them to bloom constantly. It also helps if you remove the old flowers that are finished blooming and this will promote even more blooms. They also do not tolerate dry soil so make sure the soil is always moist especially on hot days.
Chances of success of cuttings or bare root:
MED-HIGH. This plant is very easy plant to propagate and will root very quickly in water or in soil, soil is the preferred method as it is typically quicker and has higher success rate. Purchasing bare root will speed up the process but is not necessary for success. If you want to save money and are patient then purchase cuttings rather than bare root.
Place your cuttings in water or a pot with a free-draining medium like sand or a perlite/soil mix. It is important to keep the plant out of direct sunlight while rooting process is taking place. Roots will form in about 2 – 4 weeks, after which you can transplant them into soil, keeping it moist but not soggy, and provide bright, indirect light or put it in a location where it receives only morning sun. Water daily for the first 3 days after transplanting then water when you feel the soil is dry and move to a full sun location. This plant is not very drought tolerant and it will die in full sun without enough water.
