Description
PLEASE NOTE: We sell cuttings and bare root plants only. If you see a picture of a large plant in the listing it is for illustration purposes only and not what you will receive. Cuttings need to be placed in a container with water or moist soil till they root, bare root plants can be placed directly in the ground or containers and usually require daily watering till they are established. Some cuttings like succulents and cacti can be placed directly in the ground without rooting. Most cuttings do not have 100 percent success rate so we recommend you purchase a few to ensure success. Even some bare root plants will not give you 100 percent success rate after planting in the ground. Philodendron hederaceum (scandens) also known as Sweetheart Plant, Devil’s Ivy, ‘Cordatum’
A tried and true houseplant classic. Perfectly heart shaped bright green leaves adorn this sturdy vining (or climbing!) plant. Sometimes mistaken for a Pothos, you can distinguish the Heartleaf Philo by the distinct point in each leaf and their thinner, more delicate texture. Thriving in low to bright, indirect light, it’s perfect for indoors. Easy to care for and fast-growing, it can be trained on supports or allowed to cascade. This air-purifying favorite is ideal for hanging baskets, planters, or shelves, bringing softness and greenery to any room.
A cutting is usually one node with 1 – 2 leaves on. The roots will form from the node. A bare root plant is a cutting that we have already started the rooting process and roots are established already. The amount of roots each plant has varies and depends on what is available at any given time but there will be enough roots for you to pot the plant up straight away or leave it in water till you decide to pot it.
Chances of success of cuttings or bare root:
HIGH. This plant is very easy plant to propagate and will root very quickly in water or in soil, water is the preferred method for rooting cuttings as it is typically quicker and has higher success rate. Purchasing bare root will speed up the process but is not necessary for success. If you want to save money and are patient then purchase cuttings rather than bare root.
After planting your bare root plant, water daily for 3 days and then after 3 days water when you feel the top layer of soil is dry.
