Bio Starter Culture

Description

300ml Bio Starter Culture for rooting of plant cuttings.

This liquid can be used as is for a cutting or mixed with up to 5L of water for multiple cuttings.

For best results do not mix with tap water. Tap water contains chlorine and other chemicals that may kill the bacteria culture. Rain water, distilled water, bottled water or filtered water should rather be used.

How it works:

There are live bacteria, algae and micro organisms that break down waste, ammonia and decaying debris contained in this liquid. They will naturally multiply and thrive while your plant is rooting.  So you can further dilute it for more cuttings after a week.

The algae included is not a bad type of algae that will cause the water to be green or turn to sludge but if you place your container in direct sunlight other forms of algae will definitely take over causing the water to go green. It is recommended you change half of your rooting water once a week as maintenance (old water can be mixed with fresh water for more cutting containers) You should also change half the water if you start to notice cloudiness. Never change all the water at once because then you will get rid of the living organisms that are helping prevent your plant from rotting while it roots.

The culture we supply you is directly from our own water rooting system and you can see the examples of using this culture vs sterile bottled water in the pics on this listing. You will notice the cuttings we placed in the Bio Culture Starter water gained new leaves and some even started to root within 7 days. The other cuttings that were placed in bottled water without any culture added to it did not do as well. Some cuttings started rotting and the water went murky and had a strong ammonia smell. Some still did OK, but it just illustrates the advantages of rooting your cuttings in water which has some living bacteria in.
