Description
PLEASE NOTE: ALL OUR PLANTS ARE GROWN IN FUNCTIONING ECOSYSTEMS THAT HAVE SHRIMP, FISH, SNAILS & OTHER PLANTS – WE INSPECT EACH STEM BEFORE SENDING BUT PLEASE BE OPEN TO THE IDEA OF A HITCH-HIKER COMING WITH YOUR PLANT
Grown emersed (out of the water) so it is less likely to have algae or snails on it than submersed growth but please note it may lose some leaves and grown new ones as it transitions to submersed plant in your tank.
Common Names: Water Hyssop, Moneywort
Used in Ayurvedic tradition of India. But a great beginners aquarium plant too.
Moneywort is a popular back or mid-ground stem plant with pairs of light green leaves sprouting from the base to the tip of the stalk. This aquarium hobby staple adds a cheerful accent to the planted tank, as well as being a medicinal herb in the Ayurveda holistic tradition of India.
This plant can be great for beginners because it is hardy, can tolerate a wide range of water parameters and does not require CO2 injection. It does prefer a nutrient-rich environment and clean water. It requires moderate light but high lighting combined with CO2 will make this plant grow at an unmanageable rate. Bacopa Monnieri is propagated through cuttings that easily take root in the substrate. It can be grown submersed or emersed and will bloom tiny pink and white flowers above water. You will receive a bunch of anywhere between 4 – 6 stems of around 10 – 15cm each. Some may have roots already but some may be fresh clippings that will root within a few days, do not worry, simply push the stem into your gravel and this plant will grow an root at the same time. Some may have flowers on since it was grown out the water but these flowers will die off once you submerge the plant.
